NAME

DNA has a technical name of Deoxyribonucleic Acid but the more common name is DNA.


PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

A physical characteristic of DNA is that it has a distinct double helix shape.



CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS

DNA is acidic and has decreased UV Absorption due to its boiling point.


TYPE OF POLYMER

DNA is a natural polymer.


CROSSLINKAGE

Crosslinkage does occur in DNA connecting the two strands to give it its distinct double helix shape.


NATURAL ROLE OF DNA

DNA's natural role is that it contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all living organisms and some viruses.

MOLECULAR STRUCTURE OF DNA

There are 3 types of molecules in DNA.
-Deoxyribose(sugar)
-Phosphate
-Bases: Adenosine, Thymine, Cytidine, and Guanosine
